I found a portion of this picture on a book cover and immediately knew I had to try to recreate it. I (at this writing) don't have the proper reference information with me but will correct that shortly. I like giving credit where credit is due. Speaking of credit, I would like to thank Sara and Cindy for their help in the painting of this. They did the border for me since I was trying to do too much at once. A bad habit I have.
This is a picture of a tournament from around the late 1300's to Mid 1400's. I decided to change the likenesses of the women slightly, to look more like my wife and that of my three closest friends' wives. From left to right they are Abigail (my wife) The Honorable Lady Cordula (Sir Cona's wife), Lady Khurrem (Lord Garrott O'Rowarke's wife), and Maria (Lord Bannor McGavin's wife)
The picture does not do the painting justice. It is very colorful and quite vivid. My favorite kind of display. As with the other paintings I used "Apple Barrel" acrylic paints, a wide stiff bristled short-haired brush, and an off-white twin flat sheet from Wal-Mart. This painting is only one quarter of the sheet in size. Very simple to do and looks good too.
